Government Vehicle Accident Report to Accounting Officer
The Director, Administration and Supplies is to forward in duplicate to the Accounting Officer a report containing full details of how the accident occurred. It should include claims and originals received, an opinion on whether the government driver was acting in the course of employment, details and repair cost of government damage, details of claimed damage or injury, police reports, the driver's statement, a sketch plan where useful, and an opinion on the degree of negligence of each party. As a general rule, a driver on an authorised journey is presumed to be acting in the course of employment even where the driver makes an unauthorised tour or drives contrary to a superior's instructions.
