Overseas Medical Treatment Reimbursement

An application for reimbursement of overseas treatment expenses must additionally be supported by evidence of prior application for Government medical assistance for overseas treatment endorsed by the Honourable Commissioner for Health and approved by the Governor; a diagnosis and recommendation report from a Managing Consultant in a Nigerian Public Health Facility; a Medical Report and Treatment Summary from the overseas hospital; and receipts or other evidence of payment. Every case must be reviewed by the State Medical Board irrespective of amount, and applications without prior Government approval to proceed for overseas treatment will not be considered.
